July 11, 2013 (ITASCA, Ill.) -- It may be one unusual-looking traffic jam. Leaders of a northern Illinois community are hoping to break their own world record this weekend for the largest parade of Subaru vehicles.
Organizers of the effort tell The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald they hope to get 500 Subarus for Saturday's parade through the DuPage County village.
Itasca, which has about 8,700 residents, already holds the peculiar record. They set that in 2009 when village leaders managed to get 339 Subarus to drive along a 4.2-mile route.
This year's parade will be led by the Itasca Police Department's red Subaru Impreza. An adjudicator from Guinness World Records will be on hand to observe the record-setting attempt.
Organizers are asking participants to donate $10 per vehicle, which will be donated to charity.
