Same sex marriage support made at Market Days

Augsut 10, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- A political statement in support of same sex marriage was made at the annual North Halsted Market Days in Lakeview Saturday.

Congressman Mike Quigley and Lieutenant Governor Shiela Simon were among those performing un-official gay weddings.

Legislation to legalize same-sex marriage has stalled in the Illinois legislature. Governor Quinn has vowed to sign it, once it is passed.

People were out shopping at the many display booths at the festival.

They were enjoying a variety of delicious food. too.

Another highlight of the festival is the many musical acts. Wilson Phillips and David Cassidy are on the schedule.

Market Days runs until 10 Saturday night and from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday on Halsted between Belmont and Addison.
