2 charged with Wrigley Field trespassing

September 1, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Chicago police say two Pennsylvania men have been arrested and charged with allegedly trespassing at Wrigley Field to steal ivy.

It happened at approximately 3:45 a.m. Sunday.

According to police, the pair got through a window by squeezing through security bars. One of the men is 6 ft. tall and weighs 170 lbs. while the second man is 6 ft. 3 inches tall and weighs 180 lbs.

Security spotted them walking through the building and called police.

Cubs spokesman Julian Green tells the Chicago Sun-Times that the men had allegedly wanted to take some ivy from the outfield walls.

Kevin Burge and Steven Gudknecht, both 25, of Chalfont, Pa., were each charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal trespass, said Chicago Police News Affairs' John Mirabelli.

"This is not the first time that something like this has happened," said Green about previous attempts of trespassers to steal ivy.

Authorities say nothing was stolen or damaged.

The two suspects are expected to appear in court September 26.
