Dixon settlement: Town signing off on $40 million in Rita Crundwell deal

Former Dixon comptroller Rita Crundwell appeared in Lee County court, Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, and pleaded not guilty to allegations she stole more than $53 million from the town.
October 15, 2013 (DIXON, Ill.) (WLS) -- The city council of Dixon, Ill. was expected to sign off Tuesday on a $40 million settlement in connection with theft by former Comptroller Rita Crundwell.
Dixon gets the money as part of a settlement with a bank and auditor the city contends failed to do enough to expose Crundwell's scheme.
