October 14, 2013 (CHICAGO) -- One male victim is dead and another wounded during shootings a block apart Monday morning in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.
The shootings occurred at 8:56 a.m. with one victim shot in the 8200 block of South Maryland, police News Affairs Officer Daniel Sullivan said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office confirmed the death but would not release identification pending family notification.
The second male was in a black Chevrolet Impala when he was shot in the head in the 8200 block of South Drexel, police said. The car then struck three other vehicles.
The victim was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
