CUB offers energy-saving guide for gas, electric

October 14, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Winter is just around the corner, and that means your heating bill will soon go up.

But a consumer advocacy group is trying to help you save money. The Citizens Utility Board is launching a new guide outlining several utility efficiency programs.

Energy-saving light bulb discounts, appliance rebates, appliance recycling and home energy audits are included in the programs.

"CUB estimates that Illinois consumers could save up to $37 million per year thanks to energy efficiency programs offered by electric and gas utilities," said Jim Chilsen, CUB.
