October 15, 2013 (CHICAGO) -- The head of the Chicago Housing Authority has resigned after two years.
Charles Woodyard's resignation was announced at a Tuesday CHA board meeting. No reason was given for his departure.
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel appointed Woodyard in 2011. Emanuel issued a statement saying the city was "lucky to have" Woodyard.
The 56-year-old Woodyard joined the CHA in 2011 after spending nine years as head of the housing authority in Charlotte, N.C.
Woodyard took over for former CHA head Lewis Jordan who resigned in June 2011 as city officials were awaiting a review on city credit card use at the agency. City officials have said Jordan used his city card to pay for flowers and gift cards for employees.
