Mayor Emanuel announces early education push

  

August 3, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced a push to get children into early education programs during the Chicago Summer Business Institute graduation at the Harold Washington Library on Friday.

"Two years ago we added 6,000 children to the early schools program. This year, we're going to announce a program to add over the next three years another 5,000. Why? Because if you get them at 3, you get them at 4. On their first full day of first grade, they'll be ready to read. They'll be ready to write. They'll be ready for math," said Emanuel.

Emanuel said these programs help raise the chances of chicago students to graduate high school.
