August 11, 2013 (SPRINGFIELD, Ill.) (WLS) -- Sunday is Veterans Day at the Illinois State Fair, and Governor Pat Quinn signed several new laws to support service members.
One of the laws allows small business owners who are veterans to register as minority-owned businesses.
Another requires the Illinois Discharged Service Member Task Force to evaluate the needs of female veterans.
"I want to thank all of those sons and daughters of Illinois who have volunteered for the military. I think that is so important that we never forget we have an all-volunteer military," said Gov. Quinn.
Sunday's headliner at the state fair's grandstand is John Mayer.
American Idol champion Phillip Phillips is opening for him.
