October 14, 2013 (COLUMBIA, Mo.) -- An 18-year-old man from Illinois died after being found unconscious at a residence hall on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia.
University police identified the man who died early Sunday as Gregory Holthaus, of Highland, Ill., who was visiting one of the residents at the Pershing group of residence halls.
University police spokesman Brain Weimer says Holthaus was unresponsive when emergency responders arrived. He was pronounced dead at a Columbia hospital.
Weimer says there is no indication of foul play in Holthaus' death. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Weimer says support services and counseling will be provided for students in the residence halls.
