Indiana schools forced to plan without ISTEP+ results

  

July 27, 2013 ( JEFFERSONVILLE, Ind.) -- Indiana school districts are preparing to resume classes without a key piece of information they usually have to determine where to place students.

Spring ISTEP+ results have been delayed because of computer glitches that kicked thousands of students offline.

State Superintendent of Public Instruction Glenda Ritz is expected to announce results of a third-party review into the validity of this year's scores on Monday. But the News and Tribune reports that's too late for many districts that have had to decide which students need remedial help and where to place students without any test scores in hand.

Schools typically receive ISTEP+ results in May.

School officials say they're eager to learn what the review found and whether the spring scores are valid.
