International hacking scam victims include Indiana politicians

September 13, 2013 (INDIANAPOLIS) (WLS) -- Some political figures in Indiana say they have become victims of an international hacking scam.
Earlier this week emails were sent out from State Representatives Shelli VanDenburgh, Linda Lawson and Hammond Mayor Thomas McDermott Jr., asking thousands of people for financial help to get them each out of the Philippines.
The three Democrats are on each other's mailing list and noticed they also received similar messages.
Anyone who has received a message like this is asked to contact police.
