Land O'Frost building headquarters in Munster

October 3, 2013 (MUNSTER, Ind.) -- The Land O'Frost lunch meat company is starting construction on a new headquarters building in northwestern Indiana.

The company's new $6.4 million corporate headquarters in Munster will see it move about 50 employees from its current offices a few miles to the west across the state line in Lansing, Ill.

Indiana Gov. Mike Pence joined company and local officials in a groundbreaking ceremony for the project on Wednesday.

The Times of Munster and the Post-Tribune report company CEO David VanEekeren said the new building will include a pilot plant and test kitchen for developing recipes. The new building is expected to be finished in about a year.

The company makes pre-sliced, pre-packaged meats and has more than 1,100 workers at production plants in Illinois, Kentucky, Arkansas and Nebraska.
