October 12, 2013 (INDIANAPOLIS) -- An Indiana State Police officer has been placed on unpaid leave following his arrest in Illinois on charges alleging that he had sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Capt. David Bursten says officer Isaac Martinez was arrested Friday in Morris, Ill., by state police detectives following a more than monthlong investigation sparked by an anonymous tip.
Martinez was being held in Illinois as he awaits extradition to Marion County.
The Indianapolis Star reports Martinez faces two counts of sexual misconduct with a minor alleging sex acts and one count of sexual misconduct with a minor alleging sexual touching.
Martinez is a 5 1/2-year state police officer who had been assigned to road patrol duties in Indianapolis. He was placed on unpaid leave Sept. 23 as the investigation progressed.
