Sunday, June 23, 2013

Police are searching for a suspect they say raped a 26-year-old woman in the Greenpoint section of Brooklyn.

Investigators say the suspect may have targeted his victim because of her sexual orientation.

The suspect was caught on camera trying to strike up a conversation with the woman as she walked down Java Street in Greenpoint last Sunday.

Police say he then pulled out a knife and raped her.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 25-35 years old, 5'9" tall with a medium build and dark hair. He was wearing a black tee short with an unknown design on the front, blue jeans and was carrying a knapsack.

Anyone with information in regards to this rape is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
