June 12, 2011 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- In April, Mayor Rahm Emanuel chose a longtime educator in New York state, Jean-Claude Brizard, as the new chief executive officer of the Chicago Public Schools.
A month later, Brizard began a citywide listening tour. He plans to visit a school a day, and meet with students, teachers, principals and parents.
During a 21-year career in the New York City public schools, Brizard taught science in junior high, and physics in high school. He was a high school principal.
Brizard also was a regional superintendent, and executive director for secondary schools. For the past three years, Brizard has been school superintendent in Rochester, New York.
The new chief executive officer of the Chicago Public Schools, Jean-Claude Brizard, is the guest on this edition of NewsViews.
