March 24, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Parents and students have been waiting for months, and now, they know which Chicago Public schools will be closing as the district tries to deal with a $1 billion budget deficit.
Officials announced on Thursday that 71 schools will be impacted: 54 will be closed or consolidated, 11 will be co-located and 6 will become turnaround schools.
CPS CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett talked with us about such issues as how the decision was made, what it means for class size and teachers.
