October 15, 2013 (WASHINGTON) (WLS) -- The government shutdown may be keeping most Internal Revenue Service workers at home, but that doesn't mean you are off the hook for paying your taxes.
Tuesday is the deadline to pay your taxes if you requested a six-month extension back in April.
The IRS says it will not issue any refunds until normal government operations resume.
The agency also won't have any workers to take calls or help taxpayers in person.
More than 90-percent of IRS staff is on a government-wide furlough due to the federal shutdown.
