November 23, 2009 (WLS) -- Chicago Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts is planning to visit Naples, Florida, next month, according to a report in a Naples newspaper.
The team may be considering moving its spring training facility to southwest Florida. Currently, the Cubs train in Mesa, Arizona. But investors have been trying to lure the team away.
The Cubs can opt out of their 20-year agreement with Mesa next year and end its annual Spring training there by 2012 for $4.2 million.
Ricketts has met with Mesa officials earlier this month.
