August 10, 2013 (INDIANAPOLIS) (WLS) -- A South Side youth baseball team capped off an outstanding season by competing at the little league regional championship Saturday in Indianapolis.
Chicago's Jackie Robinson West Little League squad, comprised of 12- and 13-year-olds, were just one game from qualifying for the World Series in Pennsylvania.
For friends and family of the players watching on televistion, pride mixed with disappointment as the team lost despite a great effort.
"They made it through state, they went down to regional," said Pamela Bruce-Lee, whose nephew plays on the team.
"They went perfect 5-0 until (Saturday) but they did very well," said Toyan Harper, whose cousin and nephew are on the team. "Everyone was energized, unfortunately it just didn't happen but they really played their best."
