October 4, 2013 (NORMAL, Ill.) -- The NCAA has ruled that Illinois State forward MiKyle McIntosh is ineligible for the upcoming basketball season.
The university said Thursday the NCAA decided some of the 6-foot-7 freshman forward's high school course work didn't meet eligibility requirements.
Illinois State head coach Dan Muller said McIntosh's situation isn't his fault and said he supports him.
McIntosh is from Pickering, Ontario, in Canada. He'll have four years of eligibility starting with the 2014-15 season.
He is the second player on the team ruled ineligible this season. The other is freshman forward Deontae Hawkins.
The Redbirds will begin play Nov. 8 at Virginia Commonwealth with just two players with any Division I experience. Eight of the team's 12 players are freshmen or sophomores.
