8PM-12AM
China Grill
230 N. Michigan Avenue, ChicagoLos Angeles, CA - The Turks & Caicos International Film Festival (TCIFF) will be hosting a launch party in Chicago on August 10. The event will be a celebration for the upcoming 2006 TCIFF which will take place October 17-21 on the island of Providenciales in Turks & Caicos. The launch party offers an exciting environment for movie and music lovers, filmmakers, travel gurus and industry professionals preparing to enjoy this tropical locale while taking in an array of musically-infused films.
Hosting the party will be the Honorable Michael Misick, Chief Minister of Turks & Caicos, and his wife, Chicago native and First Lady of Turks & Caicos, LisaRaye Misick, along with TCIFF executive directors Jasmine Guy and Terrence Duckette.
The Turks & Caicos International Film Festival is a unique celebration of the fusion of sight and sound. Throughout the festival, films that best marry music and cinema, push boundaries, and go beyond the traditions of the moving image will be showcased through screenings, premieres and film-related activities.
A tropical hideaway from the humdrum rhythms of everyday life, Turks & Caicos offers more than just a relaxing Caribbean atmosphere. Turks & Caicos has long been known for its expansive white sand beaches and aquamarine sea, but entertainment is bringing new life to the islands.
Only a short flight from Miami and a mere three hours from New York, Turks & Caicos has long been a favorite destination in the Caribbean for visitors from the United States and Canada. Known as one of the top three diving destinations in the world, the islands are home to the third largest coral reef system in the world. Turks & Caicos is just as exciting under the water as on land!
Embracing the island atmosphere, the Festival constructs temporary theatres around the island to accommodate the TCIFF screenings. But the films are not the only piece of Hollywood the TCIFF has to offer - the Festival's executive directors are Jasmine Guy and her husband Terrence Duckette.
Jasmine Guy, widely recognized for her hit television series "A Different World" in the late '90's, has fostered her own love of music by later performing on Broadway in shows such as "Chicago" and "Grease." Now she and her husband Terrence are bringing their love of film and music together in this picturesque island setting.
The Turks & Caicos International Film Festival celebrates the fusion of cinema and music, featuring music-driven films and activities. Travelers from around the globe have discovered Turks & Caicos as a great vacation destination and the TCIFF is proud to enable others to discover it as a destination for great films. The Festival takes place on the island of Providenciales in the beautiful Caribbean, October 17-21, 2006. For more information visit turksandcaicosfilmfestival.org.
