October 7, 2009 -- Supporters of Gilda's Club Chicago will join Chicago's favorite celebrities and The Second City on Friday, October 9 at Night of a Thousand Noogies.
Hosted by Chicago Sun-Times reporter and movie critic Richard Roeper and TV news anchor Natalie Martinez, the sixth annual fundraiser will be held at The Park West in Chicago and will feature a one-of-a-kind improv comedy show, musical entertainment by John Vincent, raffle and silent auction.
Highlights of this comedic evening will include The Second City Chicago cast creating completely original songs and scenes using information provided by live, on stage interviews with Chicago celebrities including:
Ken Williams, Chicago White Sox general manager
Mike Flannery, CBS2 political editor
Lisa Madigan, Illinois Attorney General
Peter Sagal, host of NPR's Wait Wait&Don't Tell Me!
Paul Kahan, Executive Chef /Partner of Blackbird, avec, The Publican
Alpana Singh, Check, Please! host and master sommelier
Steve Albini, musician, recording engineer and founder of Electrical Audio
Rick Nielsen, lead guitarist and songwriter of "Cheap Trick""Once again, we are so grateful for the generosity & support of everyone involved with Night of a Thousand Noogies," said Dina Tallarico, Gilda's Club Chicago Associate Board President. "We are thrilled to have this opportunity to partner with these local Chicago celebrities, The Second City, our corporate sponsors and community partners to help raise awareness of our mission to provide support to all those living with cancer in our community.
Proceeds from the event benefit Gilda's Club Chicago, a free support community for everyone living with cancer - men, women, teens and children - along with their families and friends. Gilda's Club Chicago provides support and networking groups, lectures, workshops, social activities, a children and teen program, Latino program and bereavement groups, all free of charge for people living with cancer, along with family members and friends.
The event is sponsored by CS magazine, Charles Schwab, Chicago Sun-Times, Clune Construction, FactSet, Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises, Miller, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Red Truck Wine and the College of American Pathologists. Tickets are $75 or $125 and can be purchased by calling Gilda's Club Chicago at (312) 464-9900 or online at www.gildasclubchicago.org/Noogies.html . A $75 ticket includes reserved seating along with Miller and Red Truck Wine products. A $125 VIP ticket includes preferred seating, wine, beer, well drinks, a VIP goody bag and a post-performance celebrity meet and greet reception.
