Live in Person: Tia Carrere

October 9, 2009 (CHICAGO) -- Growing up in Hawaii, Tia had no thoughts of acting as a career path. She always imagined singing would be her life's vocation. In fact, at age 14, Tia sang with high school friend Daniel Ho at the Waikiki Shell and the pair performed at select gigs on the island. One day while shopping for groceries, Tia was discovered by a producer's parents and cast in her first movie "Aloha Summer". Shortly thereafter she relocated to Los Angeles and promptly landed a regular role on the daytime soap opera General Hospital.

She continued to star in scores of film and tv projects until she was thrust into the spotlight with her role as "Cassandra" in Wayne's World. the role as a rock singer/love interest to Mike Myers fit like a glove. It called for her to sing a number of songs in the film as well as on the soundtrack which went double platinum. from that success Tia released her solo CD "Dream" on Warner Brothers Records. Since then Tia has starred opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in True Lies, Sean Connery and Wesley Snipes in Rising Sun, traveled the world as Sydney Fox on her internationally -syndicated series, and the list goes on.

Current television work includes Nip/Tuck, Back to You, and recurring role on Curb your Enthusiasm. Current films include Wild Cherry with Rob Schneider and Rumer Willis and Hardbreakers with Tom Arnold and Alexis Arquette.

Tia returned to her Hawaiian roots with her voice work in Disney's Lilo & Stitch. She continues representing her home with the 2008 Grammy nominated album "hawaiiana" and winning a 2009 Grammy for "ikena" with Daniel Ho and Amy Ku'uleiahloha Stillman. Tia's next big film project has her writing, producing, and starring in the life story of Hawaiian surf legend Rell Sunn.
