April 1, 2012 (CHICAGO) -- Easter and Passover are just around the corner, and that means families and friends will gather around the dining table.
Part of the fun for the holidays is to put up decorations.
Dana Williams, retail manager at Marcel's Culinary Experience, a gourmet store and recreational cooking school in Glen Ellyn, visited us in our ABC7 studio to show us how to "tablescape."
Dana's Tips for Designing A Perfect Tablescape:
- Select colors that complement the food
- Keep it simple - less is more
- Keep it fresh
- Choose a conversation-friendly centerpiece
- Integrate items you already have on hand, not necessarily just from the kitchen and dining room
- Use items that mean something to you
- Add a fun, unexpected twist
- Lighting makes a difference. Candlelight can be very flattering (avoid scented candles). Keep it intimate but not too dark. Think coordinated, not necessarily matching
