There are some surprising facts about baby teeth cavities and what parents can do to prevent them. Did you know that baby teeth cavities are more common than any other chronic illness in children? Also, more than 40 percent of children suffer from tooth decay by the time they reach kindergarten?

In the last decade, the number of young kids with cavities increased by about 600,000.

Dr. Indru Punwani, head of the pediatric dentistry department at UIC answers questions about the problem.
