Well wishes for Japan at Botanic Garden

March 20, 2011 (CHICAGO) -- To recognize the disaster in Japan and express sympathies, the Chicago Botanic Garden will place a traditional Japanese ''wish tree'' near the Crescent Garden.

Through March 27, you can write messages and tie them to the branches of the tree. You can also take a walk in the Malott Japanese Garden.

If you cannot make it to the Garden, you can post wishes on the Botanic Garden's website and Facebook page.

On March 19 and 20, you can also learn more about Japanese culture at the Malott Japanese Garden Spring Weekend. Activities include writing a seasonal haiku and making a cherry blossom hanging scroll.
