July 21, 2013 (WLS) -- The suburbs' only two remaining outdoor theaters present both sides of a digital conversion dillema all theaters have to face. The Cascade Drive-In in West Chicago converted this spring, while the McHenry Outdoor Theater is trying to raise money to convert.
Cascade is staying in business for the foreseeable future; McHenry's future is less certain, as its owner tries to raise the estimated $130,000 cost of digital equipment and overhauling the projection room. Some in the industry think this will be theater operators' last year to use film.
