Daily Herald: Disabled Student Program

August 11, 2013 (CHICAGO) -- For years, special education students who completed graduation requirements at Huntley High School went into transition programs offered by the Special Education District of McHenry County (SEDOM).

SEDOM is a cooperative made up of 18 school districts to provide special education services individual schools can't provide on their own. One complaint about SEDOM's program was that it was too basic for some students. Huntley District 158's Life Instruction Guiding Huntley Transition (LIGHT) program will be tiered in such a way young adults can work through as their abilities dictate.

In all, about 30 students will join the program in the first year.
