A & D Property Services - This company works with young men looking to turn their lives around. This program started by the South Shore Chamber recruits young people who hang out on the streets and offers them on the job training and in some cases an actual job to help them better themselves and hopefully reduce the crime rate.

Curbside Automotive Mentoring Group teaches young men how to restore old cars while transforming their own lives. This program fully funded by the owners provides food and a place of refuge for men and women who are looking to get out of the gang life and lead productive lives in society.

Halleemah Nash - a young woman from Compton, CA who is now making a difference in Chicago. The first in her family to attend college she has successfully gone on to start her own consulting company here that connects athletes and celebrities to community organizations. She's worked with Chicago Bulls' Players, Chicago Bears' Players and other high profile celebrities. In her spare time, she also mentors young women who see her as an inspiration.

Hidden Treasure Music Academy - a company founded by Jeremy Holmes, an upcoming artist/music producer. The program goes into schools across Chicago and the suburbs and teaches students how to express themselves through music. Elementary and High School students who participate in his workshop talk about the issues affecting them and then write about it in the music they create.

UChicago Promise  is a program sponsored by the University of Chicago that recruits qualified students in the city of Chicago whose families earn less than $90,000. The program essentially gives students grants instead of loans to pay for their tuition and guarantees they will graduate loan-free from college. Heart & Soul profiles a student who says this program is a dream come true.
