Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties: Readers on the Run 5K

September 28, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- On Saturday, September 28, 2013, the Junior League of Kane & DuPage Counties, Inc.'s (JLKD) third annual Readers on the Run 5K and Kids Fun Run takes place.

The race is at Mooseheart Child City and School in Batavia. All proceeds from the event support JLKD's literacy and school readiness programs, which benefit local at-risk children.

This year, Staley Da Bear, official mascot to the Chicago Bears, is part of the action. The runners and spectators can donate books, which will be given back to community partners in the western suburbs to support literacy programs.

Kristin Celing, JLKD President, 2013-2014, and Renata Musial, Readers on the Run 5K Chair, joined us live from the site of the run during our ABC7 News Saturday Morning to talk about the organization's mission.
