Freebie Friday - Specials for government workers
October 4, 2013 (WPVI) -- In addition to the usual roundup of free things you can track down, there are some special offers just for government workers who have been furloughed.
1. LAID OFF GOVERNMENT WORKERS: FREE FITNESS CLASSES AND PASSES
Philadelphia Sports Clubs (PSC) (as well as New York Sports Clubs (NYSC), Boston Sports Clubs (BSC), and Washington Sports Clubs (WSC)) are offering laid-off government workers a free pass to all of the company's 161 fitness facilities and no-fee group classes. To take advantage of this offer, furloughed workers must show their government ID at the front desk. The offer begins immediately and lasts through the duration of the shutdown. The membership is available at all hours, except Monday through Friday 4:30-7:30 p.m. Must be 18 years or older and have a photo ID.
2. LAID OFF GOVERNMENT WORKERS: FREE POPCORN AT AMC THEATERS
AMC has announced that its theaters are offering free small popcorns to those employed by the government, regardless of whether a movie ticket is also purchased. Instead, the individual needs to simply present a valid government or military-issued ID at a concession stand. If they're particularly hungry, they can apply the discount offer to a larger size.
