6 of 15: Rodney King, right, and his lawyer Wilton Grimes leave the Federal Courthouse in Los Angeles March 22,1994. At first glance, the cases of Rodney King and Amadou Diallo appear to be mirror images. In each, a black man is attacked by four police officers whose acquittals set off public demands for federal intervention. In both cases, excess use of force is alleged; in each trial, a change of venue to a remote location most likely influenced the verdict. But on a closer look, experts say the similarities may be outweighed by differences which make the demand for a federal trial in the Diallo case an uphill battle. (AP Photo/Brennan Linsley)
