Police say the 81-year-old driver of this car was driving southeast on Millersville Rd. in Pequea Township, Lancaster County and she said she spotted another vehicle stopped in her lane, waiting to make a left turn into a business. She attempted to brake, leaving approximately 80 feet of skid, drove off the roadway crossing a driveway took out about 50 feet of split rail fence. The fence post punctured the radiator, just missed the engine block, went through the car's firewall, just to the bottom right of the steering wheel, and just below her right armpit. Her shirt and coat were pinned to the seat. A police officer and several firefighters from New Danville Fire Company had to lower the seat and get her out of her coat in order for her to get out of the car.
She was transported to the hospital to be checked for possible neck injuries.
