Homicide suspect eludes police after chase

Tuesday, November 17, 2009

Police say a man wanted for murder remains at large following a pursuit Tuesday afternoon.

Police say they were trying to arrest Maki Thomas, 24, of 905 64th Street in Philadelphia, when he fled.

Thomas was wanted for the murder of Quentin Armstrong on March 29th 2001. The FBI was serving that warrant on Tuesday when Thomas allegedly fled.

It began when the FBI was serving Thomas an arrest warrant at a medical facility on West Chester Pike in Havertown when he took off. Sources tell Action News Thomas was there for treatment of an old bullet wound.

Police say they chased Thomas on I-476, but quickly lost sight of him.

The chase was called off in the area of the Quakertown exit.

Officers are now looking for his car, described as a Black Infiniti with tinted windows. It has a PA license plate of HGS-6299.
