WILMINGTON, Del. - November 18, 2009 (WPVI) -- Police are looking for a man who followed a girl from her bus stop.
It happened around 7:00 a.m. Wednesday along VanDever Avenue in Wilmington, Delaware.
Police say the teenage girl, a sophomore from a New Castle County high school, walked to her stop when she saw a man on a bicycle approaching her.
The girl said she began to feel uncomfortable because the man appeared to be staring at her.
When the man got off his bike and started moving toward her, police say the girl started walking away, weaving in and out of parked cars.
Police say the man mimicked the girl's movevments, and the girl said the man seemed to be mumbling at her.
Soon she saw a male friend who confronted the man, who then ran off.
The suspect is described as a black man 30 to 40 years old, six feet tall, 180 pounds, scruffy appearance whom was described as possibly homeless, wearing a long, knee length black coat.
Anyone who may have information pertaining to this case is asked to call investigators at 302-832-0274 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-TIP-3333.
Police not identifying the school the girl attended, but said parents from the school were notified of the incident. Also, Wilmington Police Officers were notified and are expected to step up patrols in the area.
