March 17, 2013 (WPVI) -- Amtrak says it's set to resume service between New York and Boston that was delayed after rail lines in Connecticut were blocked by a derailed freight train.
The first northbound departure from New York's Penn Station is set for 5 p.m. Sunday and the first southbound departure from Boston's South Station is scheduled for 4:10 p.m.
Amtrak says commuters should expect some delays. Passengers who have paid for tickets but chose to not travel because of the disruption can receive a refund or voucher.
The freight train cars were empty when they derailed east of New Haven on Sunday morning.
