Mountain Lion Prowling in N.J.?

Tuesday, May 02, 2006

State wildlife officials are trying to determine whether there's a mountain lion on the prowl in Monmouth County.

Police responded to an unconfirmed sighting of a big cat along the Colts Neck-Marlboro border yesterday.

Conservation officials studied a large paw print and took scat back for analysis.

But officials don't know whether the animal is a mountain lion, which is rarely found in the northeast.
