EPHRATA, Pa. (AP) - July 12, 2006 -- A typo on a truck weigh-station sign on northbound Route 222 caught the attention of drivers near the Lancaster-Berks County line.
Truck was spelled "T-R-U-K-C."
Oops.
Transportation Department officials are thanking the public for pointing out the misspelling.
PennDOT spokesman Ronald Young says, believe it or not, from potholes to animal carcasses to things like this, that's the way the department finds out about most problems.
Such signs cost about 31-hundred dollars, including installation. Spokesman Greg Penny says unless it was misspelled in the plans, the sign contractor will be responsible to fix it.
Young says the sign will be covered until the misspelling is corrected.
