Golfer Attacks Golfer in N.J.

Monday, May 08, 2006

Police say a golfer at Weequahic Golf Course in Newark attacked another in a dispute over whether a shot was out of bounds.

Police say Dwayne McRay and Therlow Roberts were playing in a foursome when they reached the 12th hole yesterday.

The men began arguing over a shot when police say Roberts took out two irons and swung them at McRay's head. The clubs broke.

McRay was treated at University Medical Center and released.

An off-duty Essex County sheriff's officer playing behind the group arrested Roberts.
