OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) - May 8, 2006 -- No limo for Nikki Kennedy's ride to the prom. She went by helicopter.
The 17-year-old senior at Muhlenberg South High in Owensboro, Kentucky, says it was awesome. It was also a treat for the medics who helped save her life.
In September she was air-lifted to a hospital after a near fatal car wreck and spent two-and-a-half weeks in a coma. She was selected as a "miracle" patient by Air Evac Lifeteam and treated to the helicopter prom ride.
Flight nurse Nancy Davis says they don't often get to see a former patient on happy occasions.
