Burning the Burning Man too Soon

Wednesday, August 29, 2007

Call it a burning desire. San Francisco performance artist Paul Addis is charged with burning the Burning Man too soon.

The annual alt arts Burning Man festival culminates with the torching of the giant Burning Man structure. Addis is charged with setting off the Burning Man four days ahead schedule in the Nevada desert. He's posted more than $25,000 bond on suspicion of arson and other charges. Organizers of the Burning Man festival promise a flaming effigy, but not as big as the original one. They're building a new Burning Man, in time for Saturday's fiery climax.
