PHILADELPHIA - November 2, 2012 (WPVI) -- Pennsylvania gambling regulators say gross revenue from slot machines was down 4.4 percent last month at Pennsylvania's casinos, a decline blamed in part on Superstorm Sandy.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported Friday that gross slots revenue at the state's 11 casinos last month totaled $188.4 million. That was down from $197.2 million during the same period in 2011, when 10 casinos were open.
It was just the fourth time since the state's first casino opened six years ago that monthly slots revenue declined.
Sandy caused massive power outages, especially in the Philadelphia area, which has four casinos.
Gaming board spokesman Doug Harbach says one casino closed for parts of two days, while others were not at full operation. The number of customers was down significantly due to the storm.
