Consumer: Justin Bieber scam, gas grills, online courses
PHILADELPHIA - April 18, 2012 (WPVI) -- A new scam is capitalizing on Bieber fever and the popularity of Pinterest. Plus, you can take classes at the University of Pennsylvania for FREE!
THE JUSTIN BIEBER SCAM
Let's start with the naked Justin Bieber scam.. A pin on Pinterest shows a picture of a naked Justin Bieber splashing in the ocean. The pin says click the image for an exclusive J Bieber XXX tape!
But you'll eventually end up on a Facebook page asking you to take a survey and click on a prize offer..
Security firm BitDefender says this is a SCAM.
GAS GRILLS: RECALL AND BUYING TIPS
Check your gas grills. More than 87,000 STOK Island and STOK Quattro grills are being recalled. The regulator can leak propane gas, which can ignite - posing a fire and burn hazard.
The grills were sold at Home Depot stores from March 2011 through February 2012. Click here for info on this recall.
Meantime, if you're shopping for a NEW grill, Consumer Reports says the more stable the grill, the better.
In the store, gently push the grill from several angles to see if it tips. Check for sharp corners and edges. And grip the handle.. Your knuckles or fingers shouldn't be too close to the lid.
Once you get the grill home, put it in a low-traffic, well-ventilated area away from buildings, dry leaves, or brush. Use a fireproof mat underneath, and never grill in the garage or any enclosed area.
