August 9, 2013 (WPVI) -- With the first day of school just a few weeks away, this is not the time to procrastinate.
Retail experts tell me if there are specific things your children want for school, you better hurry. There is NO time to waste.
"I've got school-age kids," said Steve Shaffer. "Dragging them to the store in the summer is just not a lot of fun."
But Shaffer, founder and CEO of offers.com, says this is the best time to get what your students need for the fall.
"Back-to-school sales are in full swing," he said. "They actually started in late July. Stores are getting out there earlier with the best deals and the best coupons."
And he says stores aren't replenishing their stock. Once it's gone, it's gone.
"That's getting to be more and more common," said Shaffer. "Not just back-to-school time, but all year 'round. If you don't get your stuff early, it might sell out, especially in-store."
If you want a specific item, you'll have an easier time finding it online. And you'll probably save money, too.
"And a big part of that is you're not going to buy as much on an impulse," said Shaffer.
Plus, it's easier to compare prices online. And don't forget to look for coupon codes on websites like offers.com.
"We've got over 50 people who work around the clock to make sure to save consumers time and money," said Shaffer. "And we hand-pick and verify all of our coupons, so we've got coupons from all the best stores all in one place."
If your favorite retailer isn't offering a coupon code at the moment, you can sign up to get an email alert when it does!
Even retailers like JCPenney, which stopped offering coupons for a while, has gotten back into couponing once again.
"So right now on their back-to-school merchandise, they have up to 60% off, plus an additional 10% off with a coupon code," said Shaffer.
