Downingtown, Pa. - April 6, 2009 (WPVI) -- "There's a lot of stuff you can do to update your bathroom without breaking the bank," said designer guru Kate Hart. Interior designer Kate Hart says work with what you have.
"There's a lot of stuff you can do to update your bathroom without breaking the bank," said designer guru Kate Hart of Hart and Associates.
Interior designer Kate Hart says work with what you have.
For instance, use your existing mirror instead of buying a new one. And then frame it!
"You're going to save tons of money and you don't have to take down your existing plate glass mirror, re-dry wall, repaint, and order an expensive custom frame," said Hart.
A frame can cost just a few dollars or a few hundred.
Homeowner Kristen Terefenko was more than happy with the instant results.
"I was so excited because we had painted the bathroom a while ago but it never really looked finished. Now that I have this new mirror it's finished. It just looks so completely different," said Kristen Terefenko. And there are also some on a "budget" fixes you can do for even less money!
For instance, keep your existing vanity but remove the top and put on a new countertop with the sink already built in.
Also you can give your bathroom some inexpensive "bling" by updating the faucets..
"This particular model looks like the faucets you see in higher-end design magazines, this faucet was under fifteen dollars," added Hart. Lighting can also make a big difference.
"You probably won't believe it, but this fixture here was under $30," said Hart.
