SAVING: Wedding gown sale Saturday

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - February 11, 2009 - (WPVI) -- Valentine's Day is Saturday, and now is the perfect time for local couples to unite in matrimony.

How would you like to tie the knot in style - and save cash!?

You can do just that at the Goodwill store in Pennsauken, New Jersey, on Saturday.

They'll be running a huge sale on wedding dresses. It's the first time the store has done this.

The sale will feature new and gently used dresses.

Store employees say they went door-to-door to area bridal stores and asked them to donate, and that's how they acquired their stock.

Used gowns will sell for about $50, while new designer sample gowns will cost up to $300. A Reem Acra New York that originally sold for about $1200 will cost $250 at the sale. A Jasmine Haute Couture gown that originally sold for about $900 will cost about $200 at the sale.

The store will also have tuxedos, flower-girl dresses and accessories at significant discounts.

Doors are set to open at 9:00 a.m. But, if you're planning to go to the sale, you'll want to arrive early, since the gowns are bound to sell out quickly. It's also a good idea to wear a bodysuit, since there are only a few dressing rooms, and you may have to try gowns on in the middle of the store.

If the sale goes well, Goodwill representatives say they hope to make it an annual event. A similar sale at a Goodwill store in Florida has been very successful.
