Designer children's boutique reopens as outlet

RITTENHOUSE SQUARE - November 11, 2009 (WPVI) -- When Piccolini children's boutique opened near Rittenhouse Square about a year ago, it featured high-end designer clothing with prices to match. In terms of the economy, the timing wasn't good.

"We looked at our sales, and we figured out that most of what we'd been selling down at this location was sale stuff, sale items," explains Jessica Troiano, the store's founder.

That realization led to a whole new concept for the store. Piccolini has just re-opened as a designer children's outlet.

"It's actually host of different things, " Troiano says of the new store inventory. "Some of our vendors discontinue certain things, different patterns, different items and when they do they just want to get rid of it. So they'll end up selling it to us at a discount, which we'll then pass on."

Just about everything in the new Piccolini is 50% to 75% off regular retail.

There's bedding, organic bath products, books, and darling clothes.

A Lynyrd Skynyrd onsie that was priced at $37.95, is now $15. A Ralph Lauren toddler Polo shirt that was $45 is $24.95. And classics a girl's jumper and blouse -- which were $60 -- are on sale for $31. A boy's long-sleeved top and cargo pants -- which were $86 -- are on sale for $55.

Piccolini Designer Outlet is located at 264 South 20th Street in Philadelphia. They also have a retail store at 932 West Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr, Pa.
