Wilmington Jr. League holds giant sale

Friday, November 06, 2009

A handpainted Christmas ornament for $2. A marble-topped dresser for $8. Men's and women's tops and pants for $1 or $2 each.

That's just a small sampling of the thousands of items that will be sold at deep discounts at this weekend's Junior League Whale of Sale in Wilmington, Del.

The items for sale here are donated by Junior League volunteers, their friends and local businesses.

Other items were collected at tag and garage sales throughout the summer. The sale takes place Saturday in what was -- until a month ago -- a vacant storefront at the ShipYard Outlet Center.

You can find books and dvd's for $.50 or a dollar. There are tons of toys and board games, kitchen appliances, furniture, linens. And yes, even the kitchen sink. (It's $8).

Clothing is priced by article. All shirts are $1. Pants are $2. Jackets are $5. And all children's clothing items are $2.
