NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA - Sept. 29, 2010 (WPVI) -- Usually, the Jewish Relief Agency's Northeast Philadelphia is filled with food to be delivered to needy families. But this weekend, the agency is switching gears and holding a giant used clothing sale.
Amy Krulik, Executive Director of the Jewish Relief Agency explains, "In this economy, it's especially important to have access to low-cost items. So, we are accepting clothing and are now making it available as a one-day sale, that's open to the general public."
The sale will held at JRA's warehouse at 10980 Dutton Road in Northeast Philadelphia from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Prices are rock-bottom -- even in the designer boutique area.
Dozens of pairs of ladies shoes from Ferragamo and Stuart Weitzman will be sold for $10. Ten bucks could also net you a Coach bag.
Women's suits from Christian Dior, Ann Taylor and Harve Benard are $15.
Men's and Ladies' tops from names including Armani and Lilly Pulitzer are just $8.
All children's clothing items are just $1, even if you dig into the piles on the tables and find a Lilly sundress or Benetton sweater.
On the teen table -- a Juicy Couture "T" for $3 and Abercrombie jeans for $5.
"The proceesds from the sale will go directly to support our food program," Krulik explains. "Making it possible for us to continue the hunger relief efforts that we do on a monthly basis."
Last year, the JRA delivered a half-million pounds of food to about 28-hundred families in the Tri-State area. Noone, regardless of background, is turned away.
"Anybody who calls us and asks for our help, we are happy to help them," Krulik says.
